What I always wanted to be.

A propósito do conteúdo temático que estou a leccionar - O mundo do trabalho- pedi aos alunos que escrevessem algo sobre a profissão que gostariam de vir a ter.
Imaginação é o que não lhes falta!

When I was young, all I wanted to do for a living was to be a Tomb Raider. Not like Lara Croft, but a traditional stealer. Going to Egypt, Bolivia, Tibet... . I would be free and out of the day-to-day routine.
I don't think this kind of job is legal (it's not !!! :) ) but there's no need to have a degree and there are several advantages. If you decide to take this job, you will be self-employed. So you will work anytime and everywhere you want. There are hazards such as breaking legs, arms, etc...and be literally killed. The ancient pyramids are nothing to laugh at, they are full of traps and one more step to the left can be your last one. Excluding this irrelevant information, a Tomb Raider can become a well-known entity; even if that includes being caught by local authorities.

On the other hand, you can run away, causing panic and making people hang posters with your picture; on the top you will be able to read WANTED and at the bottom you will see a huge amount of numbers, which are the reward.
Another thing is that you need a lot of dexterity and stamina; if you start one thing, you have to finish it, you can't get back.
When you find something that belonged to someone important or is from an ancient civilization, you can keep it or sell it for a fortune. You will also have plenty of enemies and arch-enemies that are ready to decimete you without hesitation.
As you can see, you need to have a lot of nerve to be a Tomb Raider; perhaps you should think better if you really want this job. It'a a nerve racking one!
